The Business Community Battle of the Bands for Local Charity
Friday March 9, 2018 Cowboys Canad Inns Destination Centre Windsor Park
WINN$TOCK is the only event quarterbacked by the business community in Winnipeg that brings together friends, colleagues, and family all in the name of charity. Sure… we could walk, run, and cycle. But the BEST way to raise money, as WINN$TOCK has proven, is to combine charity with rockin’ music! By working together – the planning committees, generous sponsors, talented bands, and YOU – we make it happen for our community’s deserving charities.
We are pleased to announce that our Charity Partner for WINN$TOCK 2018 is The Movement Centre of Manitoba.
OUR 2018 WINN$TOCK EMCEE AND JUDGING PANEL
Richard Cloutier co-hosts the News on 680 CJOB (weekdays 4 – 7) and is a senior reporter, Global News. Born and raised in St. Norbert (yes, it’s a part of Winnipeg!) he attended the University of Manitoba (political studies, the degree plus $1 gets you a cup of coffee) and Carleton University (journalism). He is the proud papa of three grown children all still in university in various parts of the country.
Greg Mackling co-hosts afternoons on Winnipeg’s 680 CJOB with Brett Megarry.
A thrice (yes it’s a word), repatriated Winnipegger, Greg is honoured to be part of this event which showcases what can be done when we come together as a community.
As a genuine fan of the work of all our judges since he was a toddler, there will be added pressure to ‘deliver the goods’ tonight.
A member of the Broadcasters Association of Manitoba Hall of Fame, Howard Mandshein is a child of the ‘50s who was first introduced to music by the mighty KY58 in the early ‘60’s. Now 35+ years behind the mic, his knowledge of music and the Winnipeg rock scene is unparalleled. Howard is the quintessential radio DJ and host for nations of classic rock fans in Winnipeg and beyond.
Tom has been waking up Winnipeg on morning radio for many years. He is excited to say he is back doing it again, at the best station in town, 94.3 The Drive, Winnipeg’s Greatest Hits, and home to Tom and Kerri’s World Tour! Check it out from 6-9am, Monday to Friday!

Winnipeg’s own, PRIMETIME is excited and honoured to be opening Winn$tock 2018 with our tribute to Kenny Shields & Streetheart. The iconic, award winning Canadian band (including the Juno award for Most Promising Group of the Year) that gave us so many great songs, performances and that enigmatic opening lyric “Meanwhile back in Paris….”.For so many of us Streetheart provided the soundtrack to our youth.
Sadly, we lost Kenny in July 2017.
You are here! We are here! Let’s get moving, turn back the clock and pay tribute to a kind soul, a phenomenal singer and great band, One more time …ACTION!

(*sung to the melody of “Gilligan’s Island” theme song)
Just sit right back and you’ll hear some songs that will make you slightly sick,
Such sappy lyrics and melodies, you’ll want to hit us with a stick.
The group was stuck without a plan, a boat without a dock.
Till the drummer returned from southern Cal, with something called Yacht Rock.
The practices were getting rough, many songs were tossed,
If not for the courage of the fearless band, this year’s set would be lost.
The group set ground on the Cowboys stage at the mighty Canad Inns

Peter Jessiman – Guitar (CEO Wescan)

When you think of the music of the 1980’s one of the more popular bands of that time was none other than Huey Lewis and The News. As a staunch fan of Huey’s music, Greg Bieber along with Aaron Sabasch, has gone and assembled a talented group of musicians to pay tribute to several of Huey’s hits. And, if there is one thing that trumps Bieber’s love for Huey’s music, it’s Winn$tock and the raising of money for The Movement Center of Manitoba. This band, appropriately called Back to the Future, looks forward to rocking the stage with songs everyone will know.
Robert Walker – Vocals/Guitar (Scotia Bank)
Jeffrey Klassen – Guitar (Credential Financial Inc.)
Peter Jessiman – Guitar (CEO Wescan)
Greg Barre – Bass Guitar (NonFinancial)
These post ‘fab four’ lads all hail from Liverpool (in their dreams), and with fake English accents will deliver a set of classic British rock. Get out your Union Jack’s, pork pies, and pinstripe suits. We will, we will rock you!
It is indeed an honour and pleasure to be playing our inaugural show at this year‘s Winn$tock.
